Alan Fox is Deputy Director in the United Nations Development Programme Independent Evaluation Office. In this post he operates with critical delegation of authority from the Director, providing intellectual and organizational leadership and strategic guidance to UNDP’s evaluation function and the implementation of the UNDP evaluation policy, while exercising management oversight in the implementation of the substantive overall programme of work of the office. Alan joined UNDP in 2009, as the next step in a professional career now spanning several decades, with projects managed in more than 50 countries. He has served as Special Assistant to the Mayor of Cleveland, Ohio, and Associate Assistant Administrator for Water at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Private sector roles include Vice President for the infrastructure division of the engineering and consulting company Pöyry PLC (Helsinki, Finland). Born in New Delhi, Alan holds an MBA from the University of Pretoria.
